The fat PS3 is backwards compatible which makes it better. That said, the only real difference between the two is the backwards compatibility. Sony says that the PS4 is roughly 10 times as powerful as the PS3. That clock speed might sound rather high, but the PS4 processor is easily the better and more powerful of the two. PS3 servers are staying online. The company plans to discontinue the PSN Store on its legacy platforms, but that will not affect online multiplayer in PS3 games with active server support.
